Patton Middle School is an outstanding school for teachers, students and families.  We pride ourselves in working very hard to ensure that our students' social, emotional and academic needs are met throughout the day.  We have 750 students that walk through our doors from diverse backgrounds that come to school excited to learn. Currently, all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch through the Federally funded Community Eligibility Program.  Our students are enrolled in seven classes each day including Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Physical Education, Science and a variety of electives.  Some of the electives we have to offer are Art, Band, Choir, Drama, Digital Photography, Publishing, STEM, Lego Robotics, Computer Design and Cooking.

As the principal at Patton, I enjoy working with great teachers, energetic students and caring parents throughout my day.  I started my career as high school Math and Science teacher.  After teaching for five years, I ventured into the world of administration as a high school Assistant Principal.  After spending seven years at the high school level, I became the principal of Wascher Elementary School in Lafayette, Oregon.  It was in elementary school that I truly started to understand how children learn to read, write and socialize with their peers.  Three years at the elementary level was followed by a move into Patton Middle School.  This is my third year as the principal of Patton and I am very excited about the progress we are making in helping all children be successful.

This year we are again working hard to ensure that students are prepared for the Common Core based Smarter Balanced Assessment.  We are emphasizing academic language, perseverance, powerful questioning and a growth mindset.  At Patton we believe that all children can learn, and it is our job to do our best to show our students we believe in their ability to grow.

If you have any questions about Patton, don't hesitate to give us a call or stop by for a visit.

Sincerely,

Brian Crain, Principal
